The secret of Keely's instruments died with him. These notes were made from books written by Keely himself, found in an old library. The books have since disappeared. The compiler of the notes is Mr. C.W. Snell, 10301 W. Fort St., Detroit, Michigan." illegible signature, 1934 [hand written on front page of manuscript] [Snell Manuscript - The Book]
So begins the text of this incredible manuscript, written over 50 years ago, kept in private hands and finally brought forward for the public. The legacy of John Ernst Worrell Keely is filled with mystery and the stuff legends are made of. Who was this man who could disintegrate rocks, levitate tremendous weights and cause beautiful devices to rotate and generate unheard of pressures? What is more enigmatic, HOW DID HE DO IT?
In these pages we have the greatest body of data relating to Keely's work than any assembled to date. No mention is ever given as to the name of the books or papers supposedly written by the man himself. No leads, trails, or hints of anything, just these notes. That they are original is no doubt as the manuscript was type written showing them to be authentic. Someone took the care to have them bound in a hard cover thus preserving them for us. We attempted to locate Mr. Snell but to no avail. All traces have vanished as mysteriously as the object of their purport, Mr. Keely himself.
Although some of this material is repeated elsewhere, most notably in Bloomfield-Moore's biography, Keely and His Discoveries, there is a great amount of detail here not reviewed anywhere else. The reader will find the following pages interesting, enlightening and at times frustrating in their vocabulary. Do not despair, as work is underway by others to decipher the enigma. - Dale Pond
