Mu shin

Mu shin:
This is being so totally immersed in what you’re doing that there’s no separation. I saw a man from Japan several years ago when I was teaching Art at Columbia. He was the son of a Tea Master in Japan. While sitting on the floor on stage at the college, doing a demo for my students, he began creating pottery with his entire being. He had the biggest smile on his face as he created a clay pot with his hands and feet, moving his entire body with such joy. This same joy I see in this child. This is Mu shin.

“This is the real secret of life - to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.” [Alan W. Watts]
