Today, July 14, we remember Helen Schucman — born in New York City in 1909. ️
Long before the world knew her as the scribe of A Course in Miracles, she was a watchful child, a bright young woman, and later a sharp-minded research psychologist at Columbia — someone who, by her own account, had little patience for anything spiritual.
That changed in 1965. Alongside her colleague Bill Thetford — who famously said "there must be another way" — Helen began to hear an inner Voice. What she wrote down over the next seven years became the Course. Then, quietly, she asked that her name be kept off it. "The Course speaks for itself," she would say.
